Click-able Keyword Phrases

Buried under thousands of choices for keywords? Use these simple rules to narrow it down.

You have probably seen this mentioned before but my guess is, you haven’t had it explained really well how to determine what is a click-able phrase. Here are some rules to live by when searching for usable keyword phrases in your writing endeavors.

  1. People like to click on results that exactly match their search phrase.

  2. People who search for one word are generally not ready to buy or even serious about their search. Only one word= bad keyword choice.

  3. When someone searches for a singular thing they are usually looking to research. When someone searches for a plural thing, they are usually looking to BUY. For example: “vintage silver necklace” versus “vintage silver necklaces”.

  4. Number three is not a hard and fast rule, and you should use judgment depending on the subject of the keyword phrase.

  5. When people search a location of an item, they are usually looking to BUY. Example: “German shepherds in New York” vs. “German shepherds”

  6. When people enter extra detail of any kind and your URL pops up as matching those details, they are usually wanting to buy immediately and will definitely click your page. “Vintage silver heart necklaces” , if this is the phrase they have typed in, is more click-able than the more generic, less click-able “vintage silver necklaces” which might also pop up in results below it.
